    Hello Ann,
    Welcome to British-Genealogy.

Unfortunately you've given facts which don't add up.
There is no such place as Coalrick listed in the Devon towns and parishes on Genuki.
    https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/indexpars#C
    There's a Coldridge/Coleridge, a Colebrooke, and a Colebrook near Plymouth.

Findmypast has a baptism in Colebrooke on 10 July 1836 for a James Heard, son of Mary and William.

Whoever James married it was not Mary Buzzo. No such record exists in any year in the GRO Index.
However there is a James Heard on the same page as a Mary Ann Buzza, September quarter 1862, Tavistock (mainly Devon) registration distict.

The GRO Historical Births Index shows children William, James and Richard, born respectively in 1863, 1864, and 1865 in Tavistock registration district. Mother's maiden name Buzza.

I've finally found James and Mary on a census. 1881. RG11/5094 folio 88 page 9.
Living in Cramlington, Tynemouth with their many children. Which would explain why there are Heard births in Tynemouth district. mother's maiden name Buzza.
I notice that sons William's and James' birthplace is given as Calstock, Cornwall. Is that where James and Mary married? If so, you must have the marriage certificate. Does it give a father's name and occupation for James' father?

There is an entry on the 1841 census for James Heard. B abt 1836. in Devon. With Sophia Heard b abt 1811 and Walter Heard b 1838. The Civil Parish is Shobroke, West Budleigh, Devon. Where is Coalrick? Google maps can't seem to find it!

Do you think you may have relatives in Victoria, Australia?

Thank you. I have James and family after his marriage in 1862 but there are quite a few James heard born the same year, but I will check your helpful suggestions.

I have seen this one and think it quite possible as Sophia is matron of some sort of school. I wonder if this might be like a workhouse as there doesn't seem to be a school mentioned in the near census entries.
Yes there are some extended family in Australia.Thank you for replying.

    Ann

I know of someone in Victoria whose maiden name was Heard. Her family lived in Plenty, Victoria. They bought land and built a house and their road was named Heard Avenue. We stayed with them and visited them regularly.

I wonder if they are related to your family.
