WW1 soldier search

Hi, my main reason to joining this forum is to find my English grandfather. All I know of his identity is his first name: Jimmy. I know where and when he fathered my (French)dad and more or less what his role was as a soldier. A search through the Forces War Records without a surname is quasi impossible, even with leads following my DNA testing. I'm not giving up!
