Hi I am looking into my Blanco family history and all census records say that my great great grandad Emilio Blanco and his Uncle Pedro were Spaniards from the Philippine Islands. I would love to find a birth certificate for them and a place of birth. Family rumour was that they came from Seville but I don't have any documents that back this story up. The Father of Emilio and possibly the brother of Pedro - Francisco apparently owned Olive Groves ( another family rumour) and on Emilio's marriage certificate was listed as 'gentleman' as his occupation. Again no documents ever found as yet.
I am hoping someone can solve at least on of my brick walls.
Many thanks in advance. FX

Never mind the olive groves, what we need are dates!
Census references would be good, too.

Hi Christina,
yes this is my Emilio (my great great grandfather) - any tips or any sites that I can search a birth certificate in the Philippines?
I've traced his whereabouts in England but am stuck at Emilio as far as dates go. I would love to know if Francisco (father of Emilio) was from Seville or also from the Philippines. Cheers.

I did wonder if Francisco Blanco was the Francisco Blanco, Phillipine Spaniard, of the "Flowery Land pirates" notoriety. The 1864 trial was widely reported.
However, checking the Old Bailey on line data base it gives Francisco's age as 23 - which would rule him out, Emilio being born 1852 or thereabouts.
If you are interested you can check the trial here - https://www.oldbaileyonline.org/forms/formMain.jsp
Blanco in "Surname" returns 4 hits.
Or you can google "flowery land pirates" or similar."dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

Thanks Christina,
I have come across that before - but not sure a Pirate would be a 'Gentleman' as stated on the marriage cert!
Interesting to read though!
Cheers

I doubt whether anyone would write "pirate"on an official certificate. If he owned land, or dressed appropriately, the clerks would have accepted his description of himself.
BTW it can sometimes take days or weeks (or sometimes even years) for answers to come in - it all depends on who's online when. Right now, there's a lot of folk on spring breaks.

Thanks Lesley. I was trying to maximise my views that may be lost in new posts.
I just wanted to know if there were any specific websites to find information. I have tried Family Search but to no avail.
Plus Francisco's age is too young to be my ancestor - although it would have been pretty exciting if this had been him!
