Default William MARSHALSEA b1848? Army 1863-1879

Filed in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363) although he would have been in his 60's in 1914:

William MARSHALSEA, home address BRIDPORT, Dorset, joined the Army Service Corps on 27 June 1863, declaring age 18y 3m, born Bridport.
He was probably only 15y - the only suitable birth is Q3 1848 (CHARD).
    Regt No: 1548

Married Louisa STONE in 1872 (registered as MARYLEBONE).
Discharged - ill health, probably TB - in 1879.

Anc has an entry for 1st Class Staff Sgt William Marshalsea of the ASC for Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Admissions on 14 Aug 1879. Sadly, the document is on Fold3, and my membership isn't high enough to see it....

William Marshalsea regiment number 1548, Transport Branch Army service corps. served for 16 years and 42 days including 4 years and 265 days abroad in NZ and Australia. Discharged 7 August 1879 at Woolwich, unfit for further service. Very good conduct and in possession of a couple of medals. phthisis pulmonalis (TB) last two years caused by his service. He was a labourer when he joined up and a clerk on discharge.
A very informative record of his service.
