Default Mallory Gilbert MARSHALL - WW1

Here's an oddity in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

This man, MALLORY GILBERT MARSHALL, served with the RFA & ASC, with Regimental Numbers 178148 & 87779 (it's not clear which no. is which regt.)
The Cover Sheet of his records shows this info (as normal) and the instruction: DO NOT FILM.

So there are no records on Ancestry.
    Very strange.
Does this name ring a bell with anyone?
Does he have a story that would warrant withholding his record?

I am wondering whether he was real or an invented identity. I can't find him in the 1911 or 1901 census. FreeBMD only has one birth for a Mallory Marshall, Sep 1895, Toxteth Park, and he died aged 0. The only other one in the whole DB was born 1948.

No luck with the medals index.

(BTW Toxteth Park had 6 deaths aged 0 that quarter)

    HI

His name is Mallory Albert Marshall
I would say reading that page that 178148 is ASC with 87779 being RFA
Why his record is not copied is a mystery, I have never seen anything like that before.

    regards

    Could this be him?
On FMP there is a Malloy Albert Marshall signed up 28 August 1914 at Exeter age 24 years 5 months. Regiment number 87779 ASC. His form is stamped "Duplicate" at the top of the page over the Attestaion title. He married Ethel M Gordon June 1/4 1916.
His father Timothy Malloy, Stoke on Trent
On the attestation form his name is written as Malloy Albert Marshall but he signs as Albert Malloy Marshall.
He was sentenced to trial 11 Dec 1915 for fraudulent enlistment in the ASC whilst serving as Gunner A Malloy 87779 in the RFA . The trial was dispensed with and he went on to serve until 1919.

That would explain why I couldn’t find Mallory!

Thank you ALL for your sleuthing. And apologies for getting his name wrong - yes, it's ALBERT, not Gilbert.

"Do not film" intrigues me - Other records show murder, bigamy, desertion ... Surely the only reason would be to protect an important individual ... or national security.

FMP have 14 pages pf his service record. To find it just use the service number 87779, nothing else. His name is Albert Maloy until the 3 page when his full name is used.

Albert says he was born Bethnall Green and his father was Timothy so could this be him in 1911

    Piece 1449
27 Coopers Gardens, Hackney Rd, Bethnal Green, London
    Timothy Maloy 58 Pedlar, London
Elizabeth Sarah Maloy 56 Bethnal Green, London
Albert Edward Maloy 19 van boy at furniture works born Bethnal Green, London

ancestry does have his service records under Albert Maloy/A M Maloy reg number 87779 RFA
He is in the 1925 electoral register as Albert Edward Maloy with his wife Ethel May.

There is a birth Albert Malloy Bethnall Green 1c/159 Sept 1/4 1891 mmn Marshall
