    Default Birth certs/regs for 1964?

I have searched both the Ancestry and the Family Search, I am looking specifically for someones 1964 birth reg. and can't find it anywhere. I since found out that no 1964 births are available on either site, does anyone know why this is?

Ancestry have the Civil Registration Birth Index covering the period 1916-2007 so I don't understand why you think it doesn't cover 1964.

FreeBMD has practically 100% coverage up to 1985.

Mcleeds - did you by any chance select the wrong section to search?
For reasons best known to themselves Ancestry have their registrations split into two sections. 1837 - 1915 which have a free index.
Then 1916 - 2005/2007 which you have to have a subscription to view.

    Um. Interesting.
Found an entry on FreeBMD to use as a test. Found it on Ancestry, but it's not on FamilySearch - which does say that its index goes from 1837-2008.
Even tried another entry (completely different name) on FamilySearch for a birth registration in 1964, and again, no joy. But it is on Ancestry.
So obviously there's a problem with FamilySearch.

1837-1915 ties in with the online GRO index for pdfs, perhaps that is what motivated the choice.

Hmmm. FamilySearch obtained their version from Findmypast so one would really need to check Findmypast as well.

If the questioner would tell us what he's looking for, we could provide a more informed answer.

1964 births on FMP seem OK.

Might need to be careful re precise information as there is the potential for a living person to be the searched-for.
