    Default MASKELL, Frederick Anthony b1882 - WW1

    Another MASKELL mis-filed as MARKELL in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

    Frederick Anthony MASKELL, born 10 June 1882 (Chiswick), was called up age 36y in July 1918.
    Served with the Royal West Kents (Regt No 39830) until discharge in 1919.

    In July 1918 he lived in Chiswick, with his sister Annie GRAY.
    Married in December 1918 - to widow Ada Sarah STRUDWICK (maiden name MULLINS - freebmd).
    Step-children: Frank Henry Frederick STRUDWICK (b1912) & Rita Sarah STRUDWICK (b1915).
    Address on discharge: Brentford.

    For unknown reasons, Anc has him indexed as Marke in their service records database, (identity confirmed by names of wife Ada and kids Frank HDS and Rita SS).

    Ancestry's "indexing" is the reason I started this project - rushed, not done with sufficient care, only random pages indexed ...

    I don't know whether it's still the case, but in the beginning a lot was farmed out to places where english was not the first language, with "interesting" results.
