Post John & Eleanor Thompson Newcastle Northumberl

I’ve hit a brick wall on my 5th great grandparents

    John Thompson abt 1765-??
    Eleanor Thompson abt 1771-??

Possible marriage to a Eleanor Cram?? 21 Nov 1789 In Newcastle

    Children:
    George Thompson abt 1791 (4th G Grandfather)
    Jane Thompson abt 1799
    Thomas Thompson abt 1801

Obviously working backwards from the children I can’t find a positive conformation on this set of parents. Have I even got the right siblings for my 4th great grandfather George Thompson??

Any help or point in right direction would be HUGELY appreciated..

    Thanks, Lisa x

Unfortunately I know from experience that there are a lot of records in Newcastle around this time that are not on line.
Do you know John Thompson's occupation? There is a Jane Thompson born 30/11/1799 and Baptised 4/2/1800 at All Saints, Newcastle who is the daughter of a John Thompson, Master Mariner, and Eleanor, daughter of a George Cram.
I can not see a George Thompson or Thomas Thompson on about the dates you mention with the same parents but there are the following all Baptised at All Saints and with the parents of John and Eleanor Thompson who could be siblings. You would need to look at the original Parish Registers or Bishops Transcripts for any further details:-

    Sarah, 17/11/1793
    John, 27/9/1795
    George, 14/11/1797

    Hi MartinSSS,
Thank you for your reply, all the details you have advised all seem to fit, it also matches in with the marriage I had.

I have a father of John Thompson born abt 1765 as also John Thompson. I haven't a mother's name yet.

The children you mention fit, I'm actually now checking the names I already had to make sure these are correct also, George I didn't have a birth record for so his date was an approx date.

I'm seeing if I can confirm John as a master mariner but sure where to start!!

Also when Im looking into Eleanor Cram a lot of searches bring her up as Eleanor Cram Lairmont born 1771 in Northumberland.
Could the Lairmont be a possible stepfathers name??

It says b 1791 but that census had adult ages rounded down to nearest 5 or 0 so he could have been born between 1787 and 1791. Does the 1851 census give the same date or had he died by then. If so what age does his death cert give?
