    Default MCPHAIL, John L - fraudulent enlistment WW1

    This man signed up as George MARSHALL, and so is mis-filed in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

    John L McPHAIL (name checked from marriage bmd, probably John Lachlan, b1890) joined the Yorkshire Regiment on 25 November 1915, declaring age 25y, name George MARSHALL.
    He deserted on 8 January 1916. Regt No: 25668.

    Home address: New Wortley, LEEDS
    Married Mary HARWOOD at ARMLEY, December 1914
    Son: John Lachlan McPHAIL (noted as illegitimate, but probably not) b April 1915
    Aunt: Alice HUNTER

    Is this the same man joining up under his own name. I can't access the original image as it is in Fold3 on ancestry.
