    Default Royal Engineers

Can anyone please explain these initials:

711 AW ( I know the 711 is the battalion but what is the AW
Cov (not sure of this but I think it is probably a G not C - is it General Construction.....)
RE (I know this to be Royal Engineers)

This information is embroidered underneath the RE badge that was made by a member of the RE who was stationed in Iceland during WW2.

There is a lot of info. on the web about Iceland during WW2.

It could stand for Artisan Works Company, although the number doesn't seem to fit, as 711 was a General Construction Company. The AW Coys seem to have been numbered 666, 687 and 688.
