    Does anyone know what the abbreviations for "Previous action" mean on my great uncle Jo's pension index card ?

    Here is a list of abbreviations used in WW1. As the image is very difficult to read or my ancient eyes I'll leave it up to you to see if there is anything relevant to the card squiggles

    I think I see PA, twice, and may be WVC but nothing matches in the list. PA appears a lot in other images of pension ledgers and index cards
    I've long looked for his Coy after enlisting in Woolwich.

    Can you give us his details? Where and when born, parents, regiment, regiment number, when enlisted etc? Much better than trying to read your document and as ancestry has seen fit to make Fold3 records a separate subscription to their main site I can no longer access them.

    The pension index cards are "owned" by the Western Front Association who took them on when the MOD were set to throw them away, and originally they were offering their own service to people for a fee, but I suspect the task of doing this became too much for what is effectively a voluntary organisation.

    It might be worth looking at their web site to see if they have information that might be relevant.
