    Post Peter Anslow DLI 8555

    Hi i am trying to find information about my Grandad who was a 2nd Lieutenant in the first world war in the Durham Light Infantry. 8555.
    Hope someone can help.

    I think you may have come to us from Forces War records, if so reading this will explain the connection.
    WW1 service records are licensed to ancestry.co.uk and Findmypast both of which are pay per view sites but your local library may have one or the other.
    More than 60 % of WW1 service records were destroyed by bombing fire in WW11 so it is a lucky person who finds their ancestors records.
    This is an entry for your man from the UK, British Army Lists, 1882-1962 and one each in the medal Roll index cars and Award and medals records. I can't see a service record for him.

    As an officer and given the dates above, I wonder if he served after WW1, if so his service records could still be with MOD, you will need to write to them to find out.
