Let's start again from what you know to be the facts. Which of your ancestors are you absolutely sure are yours having worked back from you, your parents, grandparents, ggrandparents. gggrandparents etc.

Give us the names, birth dates and places, deaths etc of those furthest back that you are certain of and we will see what can be found.

Are you sure you have the correct place of death (Nebraska) for John Sandford Moss and his wife Ida M? because on the findagrave site there are tombstones for a John S Moss and an Ida M Moss. But of course the information about dates and parents would have been submitted by someone related. The tombstones themselves have ony the names and birth and death years

    John S Moss
    1851- 1923
    Cemetery: Sherman Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Oberlin, Decatur County, Kansas, United States of America

1880 they are in Grant, Decatur Kansas
In the 1910 census they are in Nebraska.

Just a couple of quick observations.
I see John S married Alice McCrae 1920 Nebraska

The problem is also my oldest living relatives (aunts and uncles) are not sure either. I have had discussions with them, but they are unsure as well. That was why I went the DNA route, but it is difficult to find records as well.
I'm thinking that some of my Moss Surname descendants may have been sent over when Great Britain sent people that may have had some legal issues to the colonies.

You are correct in the burial place of John S. Moss. I hadn't updated that yet. Thanks for catching it.

Have you seen Benjamin's will on the familysearch.org site? I haven't read it - the writing makes my eyes ache.

Have you uploaded your DNA to ancestry? Evidently more chance of getting matches as they have more members than other sites who have done this.

It's a pity that Banjamin's and Mary Dewees marriage image isn't one of those that recorded parents names which the later ones seem to do. Even George Moss' death certificate has his mother and father's names.
