    Default South Staffordshire Regiment

    Hello from Australia
I am seeking suggestions to find information on the above regiment and my great grandfather who served and became a prisoner of war in WW1.
His name was Robert Whelan and he enlisted in 1915 at age 31. He lived in Hamilton Scotland.
He was a private and his regimental number was 45272.
I am interested in the battle that he may have been captured in and conditions of pow camps.
I do not know which battalion he might have served in.
Any assistance and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The Red Cross has details of WW1 PoWs and their website should give you details of Robert. https://grandeguerre.icrc.org

    Thank you Peter

Robert went missing in April 18 and appears to have been held at Stendal. Also discovered he was in B coy.

    Much appreciated.
