    Welcome to the British-Genealogy forums
Do you know for certain that Thomas Wright and family members have a vault at St John Church Kates Hill. There is another church, St James, in the Dudley district.
I notice that Thomas' death registration was in the Bromwich registration district which does not include Dudley although he is born and present in Dudley in the 1861/71/81 censuses.
This site says the parish records for both St. John and St. James are with the Worcestershire Archives so you could see if they have any information to help in your search.

    Thumbs up Kates Hill Vault

Thank you for your speedy reply Christina. I have a 'death card' An Affectionate Rememberance, that says he died at Clent 9 Sep 1886 and was interred in the Family Vault, Kates Hill, Dudley, this 14th September. So I think it's all there. But I live down South now so can't do the leg work.

Have you rung the local council for that area ask to speak to the cemetery dept. or ask for the number so you can speak to them. They might be able to help you I did this to find out where my Gran and Grandad where in Wallingford, Oxfordshire Cemetery. I know where it was by the hedge there is no headstone but there was a little stone with a number on but I could not remember what it was. They where very helpful told me what number it was so we could find it. But LOL no luck all the numbers have been removed.

The Society of Genealogists library has the MIs. They're "down south".

Plus you never know how many related surnames you might find listed.

Sandy, the vault is in the church/churchyard and is therefore under the jurisdiction of the church. It won't have anything to do with the local council who usually only deal with cemeteries and crematoriums.
