My name is Linda. I started my family search about 4 years ago. A newbie compared to many people.
My parents reside in Australia.
On my Dads side Jennings ,Steer from what I’ve found so far-Cornwall
On my mums side Valentine,Foreman,Webster,Donaldson,inksater,Robin son,Beaton,Watson-Dundee,Orkney
I know a lot of names. It’s like putting a big jigsaw puzzle together.
I have many questions and love to find out about their lives -not just all names and dates.
At the moment the puzzle piece I’m working on is

Just to give those wanting to help some background on the Beaton family this is the1881 Scotand census. I only have access to the transcriptions, not the original image so can't check the birthplace of Alexander Watson Beaton as being France.

There is a large gap between the birth of Alex Watson Beaton 16 and David 6. Is this a second marriage for Frank (Francis I wonder.
Do you use ScotlandsPeople - a pay per view site . Scottish Statutory records are usually very informative.

Ok, I had 6 credits floating about so took a look at Francis and Isabella's marriage certificate. He is age 21 and a bachelor, she a spinster age 28. (so she told porkies on the census)
The marriage is 5 Nov 1873 at 49 Castle St Dundee, so the birth of Alexander Watson Beaton was well before this. I wonder if he is Isabella's illegitimate son and has taken Francis' surname?
Frank's father is Donald Beaton, yarn bleacher and his mother Eliza Beaton nee Thompson. Isabella's father is Alexander Watson, Mill ?? and mother Isabella Watson nee Sharp.

Another census wuth the birthplace of Alexander as France.

Looking at the marriage cert Francis born 1852, if the age of 21 is correct, so he is giving the wrong age in 1881 and Isabella is giving nearer to her correct age on the censuses.

The date of birth of Alex Watson Beaton confused me. That would be a good explanation. I cannot find his death.
The 1891 C has Isabella as 48 and Frank as 40-so a more accurate Census
Thank you for finding Franks parents for me. I’m on real limited funds and the kindness of others is greatly appreciated.
In the 1891 C there is no David. Could he have been married by then! or dead!
I found a Frank Beaton marrying a Margaret Stewart in 1905. Dieing in 1945,Dundee !!!!!
Ritchie born in 1880 and dieing in 1935.
Not sure if there are more children

This is the marriage of Donald and Eliza without paying for credits. of course it doesn't give parents' names but as it is a Church register it is not known what information would be on the original anyway. It is only the Statutory registers from 1855 on that give standard information
