    The hearing was at the Central Criminal Court. It is on 'Old Bailey Online'. No further details except man assaulted was
    Alfred Keep. Both a George Ashton and an Alfred Keep appear in the 1841 Census for Deptford.

    Thanks for all your replies - so good to get some guidance. It does look more like “Kenton” but agree no crossed t ..
    I saw the criminal report but followed that up.. and that George ended up in Australia and died in Australia as a Convict I think ...

    Another clue would be finding out who was onboard the Sussex Whaling ship ...but haven’t had any luck with finding records on that either.

    Might start looking at my DNA matches for Ashton ancestors...
