    Default John Jenkins

Hi, I am looking for the 1st marriage for John Jenkins, any help would be appreciated

    His daughter
Eliza Ann Jenkins June qtr 1846 Brentford mmn Mountain
2-Eliza Jenkins June qtr 1846 Buckingham mmn Higging & Shoreditch mmn Parslow

Eliza Ann Jenkins married Henry Myers 21 June 1863 Sheffield her father John Jenkins Blacksmith.

2nd Marriage for John Jenkins on familysearch
08 Apr 1860 Duffield, Duffield, Derbyshire, England
John Jenkins 35 Widowed father George Jenkins
Sarah Willmore 27 Single father's James Willmore

    1861 Census Belper Derbyshire

John Jenkins 36 Labourer b, Newbury Berkshire
    Sarah Jenkins 28 b. Bedfordshire
    Eliza Jenkins 15 b London

    1871 Census Sheffield
John Jenkins 47 Blacksmith b, Newbury Berks
    Sarah Jenkins 36 b Bedfordshire
Eliza Jenkins 24 Married b. Berkshire (I am guessing that Eliza is Eliza Myers who is also on the 1871 census with Henry Myers)

I have all the census for Eliza and Henry in Sheffield
    1871 for Eliza A Myers 24 b. Middlesex
    1881 Eliza Mires 34 b. London Surrey
    1891 Eliza Myers 44 b.Westminster
1901 Eliza Myers 55 b. Sheffield which if definitely incorrect
    1911 Eliza Myers 65. b. London Middlesex

    Thank you

    Marriages
    On same page FreeBMD
Sept 1/4 1851 Keynsham ( boundary of Gloucestershire and Somerset) John Jenkins and Elizabeth Sheppard Mountain
Sept 1/4 1871 John jenkins and Mary Ann Parslow. reg dist Bristol.
So both of the above are after Eliza's birth, the second one is after John's marriage to Sarah and neither are in Berkshire.

There is also a birth registration on FreeBMD for an Eliza Ann Jenkins March 1/4 1846 reg dist Westminster vol 1 page 436 GRO index gives the mother's maiden name as POUND but I can't find a Jenkins/Pound marriage anywhere anytime either.

    Hi Marj
Have you found John in the 1851 census, also Eliza Ann. I am having trouble finding them.

I think the Eliza Ann mmn Mountain may be the one in Chiswick in 1851 with mother Mary & sister Charlotte (Chiswick is in the Brentford RD). I can't find a birth registration for Charlotte, although both girls were baptised at St Nicholas Chiswick:

24 Apr 1842 (born 3 Apr 1842) Charlotte Mary d/o John & Mary Jenkins, Chiswick, Tallow Chandler
2 Apr 1846 (born 21 Mar 1846) Eliza Ann d/o John & Mary Jenkins, Chiswick, Tallow Chandler

In 1861 Charlotte is a servant in Flixton, Suffolk & Eliza Ann is a servant in Hammersmith, London, so can't be the Eliza with John in Derbyshire.

I can't find them either in 1851, nor can I pin John down in 1841 or find a baptism for him. No obvious baptism for Eliza Ann either.

Thank you all for your help, I have not found them in 1851, I keep having a look for John every so often trying to find the family together, I have come to the conclusion this is a brick wall that can't be knocked down.

Again thank you, very much appreciated for the help you have given me

I had a quick look at this, and I think you can probably discount the Jenkins-Parslow and Jenkins-Pound families.

Parslow - using the GRO birth index, I found 4 children: Alexandrina Victoria (Jun qtr 1842 Clifton), Matilda (Sep qtr 1844 Bristol), Eliza (Jun qtr 1846 Shoreditch), William Henry (Dec qtr 1851 St Pancras). The family are in St Pancras in 1851, father an organ builder. I think Alexandrina was listed as Dena, if you're planning to use her as your search target.

Pound - besides Eliza, 7 children in Westminster between 1847 and 1861. I must have found them on a census somewhere - father a messenger at Lloyds, I think.

Sorry I don't have full details - it was a fairly rushed look, and when I saw they were unlikely I didn't note much down.

    1871 Census Sheffield
John Jenkins 47 Blacksmith b, Newbury Berks
    Sarah Jenkins 36 b Bedfordshire
Eliza Jenkins 24 Married b. Berkshire (I am guessing that Eliza is Eliza Myers who is also on the 1871 census with Henry Myers)
Rather than Berkshire I think Eliza's PoB is given as Buckinghamshire, not that it helps find her!
