Edward DEERING, Ilford/Leyton, Essex - WW1

A few pages mis-filed in the MAR section of the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

Edward DEERING (probably born c1865-1870) of Ilford, later Leyton, Essex.
Married to KATE, who died April 1917 aged 47y - her Death Certificate is on pp 48-49.

Served with the Royal West Kents (Regt No. 8308).
Discharged May 1917.

There's only one Edward Deering marriage on FreeBMD:
ED mar Catherine F Plumstead in Strood, Kent, in 1915

ED was already in the army in 1911:
b abt 1884, Canterbury. A soldier with the 2/Royal West Kent Regt in India in 1911. This does not match with page 1 of his papers where he says that he has not served/ is not serving in the army. His military history sheet shows service from 1906 with tiome in the Reserve 1911.
There's one Kent-ish ED in the 1901, b. 1884 son of Edward & Harriett D.
8308, according to his WW1 papers, had the Indian Durbar (coronation?) 1912 medal and was married to Catherine Fanny Plumstead 26.6.15 in Strood
His father: Edward
He's living in Leyton in 1919.

That's all that's in the WW1 papers on Anc. No mention of Kate's death.

Silver war badge no 201841 in 1917.

Oddly, there's a ED married to a Kate F Deering in the 1939 in Leyton, which is a bit odd if the lady died in 1917.

From the first part of his file:
Edward Deering, aged 23 years and [illegible] months when he joined up 13 June 1906 in Maidstone. Says he was born in Canterbury.
Father Edward, siblings Christopher, Gladys, Maggie, and Cecilia.
Married Catherine Fanny Plumstead 28 June 1915 in the Register Office, Strood (Kent).

Oddly, there's a ED married to a Kate F Deering in the 1939 in Leyton, which is a bit odd if the lady died in 1917.

That must be the Edward and Kate F White who married in December quarter 1917, West Ham registration district.
Strange, though I have seen it before, where a widower marries someone with the same name as his first wife. Suppose it saves any 'oops' with saying the wrong name during 'intimate moments'.

Suspect that Edward is the one, birth registered September quarter 1883, Bridge registration district. Bridge is next door to Canterbury.

Without wishing to malign Kate, was she a 'sugar mummy', or did she just look good for her age?
If she was 47 when she died in 1917, this birth registration would fit - Catherine Fanny Plumstead, September quarter 1869, Shoreditch registration district.
But it would make her fourteen years older than Edward.
