Q3 1915 Macclesfield births (parents CLAYTON & CARTRIDGE):
freebmd shows TWO entries:
ALLAN (page 184)
THOMAS (page 184a).
GRO shows ONE entry:
ALLAN (page 184 Occasional Copy: A).
Peter CLAYTON's WW1 Service Record (WO 363) shows son ALLAN THOMAS born 7 July 1915.
So I guess someone entered the second name incorrectly on the Register! (I've added a "Postem" for each entry)

Hi Fullscott, I am not an expert, but have come across this type of thing before, occasional copy usually means that at some point the details of the birth have been altered, but it could mean anything has been altered, the name, mothers maiden name, page or volume numbers, anything at all, so I cant be exact, but I will have a look for you.

As far as I can see, there's just one entry on the Cheshire BMD website, for Allan Clayton in 1915 in the Prestbury sub-district.
To confuse matters, there's a Thomas Clayton in 1916, also in the Prestbury sub-district. I initially wondered if this might be recording an additional or changed name, but then saw that the GRO list a Thomas in Jun qtr 1916 with mmn Green. I haven't done any further checking, but on the face of it the different mmn's suggest they are different families.
