A few pages, mis-filed in the CLA section of the WW1 Service Records (WO 363) because the man joined as CLAYTON-SMITH:
Guy Vernon Henkensheldt SMITH, a Solicitor, born 1888 Rock Ferry, Cheshire.
Joined up on 1 December 1915; enlistment delayed until 31 January 1917 due to a heart problem.
Enlisted with the Inns of Court OTC & served as Lance Corporal 10638 CLAYTON-SMITH.
Unfortunately, no further information to show family or whether he survived/was commissioned, etc.

FMP has a transcript (only) of his military service as a 2nd Lieutenant in The King's Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry) between 1914 and 1922.
National Archives reference WO339/101137
Also a Kelly's Directory entry for him as a practising solicitor in Pontefract in 1927.
