    Married at PRESCOT, July 1906 - Amelia JACKSON;

    The 1911 (on Anc) has him (and the form agrees) as Leopold M Bennison, and a machine bottle blower. Amelia's 5 years younger. They have 4 kids listed - Walter, Leo, Bertha and Eric. married 5 years. Everyone b. St Helens.

    Marriage reg has him as Matthias Leopold, Amelia is Miss Jackson.
    Matt-Leo's pension record has survived.

    Find a Grave claims that he's on the Menin Gate having died on 31 Jul 1917, but CWGC has no record for anyone called Bennison with the number 12407. However they do have Matthias Leopold Bennison number 40552, d 31 Jul 1917 age 34, 1 Btn Worcs Regt, son of late John & Anne Jane B., husband of Amelia McDermott, formerly Bennison of St Helens.
    He must have re-joined. Maybe his health improved.
