Default A Massive Thank you and an Enigma

First of all, I want to say a massive thank you to Almach. As a complete beginner to searching my family history, and after speaking to my family, I had the bare bones, (and a lot of incorrect information). Almach responded to one of my posts and not only replied, but gave me a huge amount of correct information about my family. I was completely blown away with the amount of information she found. I have now put it all in chronological order, and have also received my Great Grandma’s Martiage Certificate, which confirms that her father was indeed called Michael Kelly, as she correctly found out, and because of all the new information she has given me, she had opened up so many new avenues for me to explore, now I know I’m on the right path. My heart is truly humbled.
Now onto another question I have. My maternal Grandfather was in the TA and was one of the first to join up at the outbreak of WWII. Before he left he opened a Bank Account in a false name, and my family would like to try and trace this account. I have the false name but how firstly do I find what Banks we’re open in Blackburn, Lancashire, at the time of the outbreak of WWII and would also like to know if you have any advice or suggestions as to what I should do in trying to trace this account. TIA

I think that this is probably quite a specialist activity, not least because there because there has been so much reorganisation of the various financial institutions over the last 70 years. Banks with names like the National Provident disappeared when it merged with the National Westminster etc.

I did a quick "google" on "dormant bank accounts" and found this link which might help:

Thank you, Nerjagirl. It makes all effort worthwhile when someone takes the time to show their appreciation
