    Default Joseph CHESTER c1879 Non Combatant WW1

    Mis-filed with another Non Combattant in the CLA section of the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

    Joseph CHESTER, married to KATE.
    Home address: 3 Gladstone Terrace, TRAWDEN, Colne, Lancs.
    Attested 7 June 1916, declaring age 37y.
    Discharged 1919.

    Damaged, not easy to read, and not much extra information!

    There is an attestation record for a Joseph Chester born 1879. he attested in 1899 and three months later paid 10 pounds to be released. His father is William Henry, mother Annie, brother Roddy and sister Hilda. Family address Burdock Hill, near Colne
    He attested at Ballincollig Co Tyrone 18 April 1899 and bought his discharge on 3 July 1899. Home address at the time - Barnoldswick which is 7 miles from Colne

    A Joseph Chester married a Kate Rudd Sept 1/4 1912 Burnley registration district which includes Colne FreeBMD has her surname as Ridd
    There are no other marriages Joseph Chester to a Kate 1899-1916 but of course Kate could be an abbreviation of Catherine/Katherine.

    In 1911 a James Chester born 1877 Trawden is with his wife Emma and two children at 13, Gladstone Terr. Joseph's brother perhaps.
