While searching for someone in the 1851 census on Ancestry I clicked on a possible person and was somewhat astonished to see that the page was type-written.
I was going to comment on how unusual it was, when I became somewhat suspicious because I know the 'how to complete your enumerator schedules' are typewritten. Sure enough at the top of the page it says 'Example of the manner in which Entries should be made in the Schedule Book'. Though I should have twigged something was amiss when the person was supposed to live in Thursby Surrey but the top of the page said the parish was St James Westminster.

Check out William Frampton, born 1779.

Even funnier is that I was just checking the results and suddenly realised that there were an awful lot of William Framptons born in 1779 in Bilston Staffordshire, and of course what has happened is that the example sheet has been transcribed for about a dozen piece numbers!
