I hadn't found the 1901 workhouse entry for Sarah Floud before could be interesting! Thanks!

That record is from Ancestry. FMP have indexed the same family as: Daniel O Donough, 25; Ellen Donough 19; Daniel Donough 0 (original 9 months).

    The Genealogist has: Daniel O'donough 25; Ellen O'donough 19; Daniel O'donough 9m.

I read the original as: Daniel A Donough 25; Ellen Donough 19; Daniel Donough 9m.

Thank you, Eileen, for your reply and letting us know what records you have found. I hope we can help you further your research.

    Good luck

Thanks Alma! I had a look at the record on FMP and also thought it was Daniel A. I'm very happy to have this. And I'm also puzzling over Sarah Floud's workhouse record for 1901 - it fits with my theory that the family was going through a very bad time then, but of course, I can't be sure that Sarah is Ellen! Frustrating and intriguing. I'll let you know if I find anything else.
