Final question!! My paternal Grandfather joined the RAF in 1940 and was discharged on medical grounds in 1944. Would he have been awarded at least a service medal or victory medal in 1945 to reflect his service in the RAF? After all it was not his fault he had to be discharged on medical grounds.

For reference, grandfather's service records have already been obtained.

Hi
You can write to MOD Medals to confirm.
List of medals here with criteria- he should have got the 1939-45 War Medal and possibly Defence Medal.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/medals-c...d-war-2-medals
Address or email for MOD medals is at the bottom of that list.
