Question Samuel Smith Somerset wrong father?

My maternal great great grandfather was called Samuel Smith. I have a record for a baptism of a Samuel Smith on 20th Jan 1861 at Curry Rivel Somerset. His parents were William Smith (1832-1913) & Mary House (1836-1902). The 1861 census gives his year of birth as 1860.

Samuel married twice and I have copies of both marriage certificates. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Ann Glover (1857-1890) at Taunton on 3rd February 1880. Samuel states his age as 31 putting his year of birth as 1849.

After Elizabeth died, Samuel married my great great grandmother Mary Ann Lee (1873-1950) on 29th March 1897. Samuel gave his age as 36 therefore his birth year is 1861.

The reason I am stuck is because on both marriage certificates Samuel’s father’s name is given as James Smith (deceased). I have no idea who James Smith is. I can’t locate a baptism record showing James to be the father. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1861 Census that you have

Name: Samuel Smith Age: 4, Estimated Birth Year: 1860 1861 age 4 would make his birth year 1857 not 1860
Relation: Son Father's name: William Smith, Mother's name: Mary Smith
Where born: Curry Rivel, Somerset, England, Civil Parish: Curry Rivel, County/Island: Somerset: England
in the same household is Elizabeth House 21 mothers sister.
I don't think this is your Samual Smith.

I agree that it is now unlikely that I have the correct parents. He was living in North Curry at the time of both his marriages which is why I have been searching for a baptism record there. I might have to widen my search to look for a record with his father James Smith.
