    Default Carter Family

We have a story in the family that an Uncle can back from Emigrating from Australia with his wife and went back after Adopting 2 children from the Children's Home which was just up the road from my Granddad house.

Now I have Edward William Carter b 1905 England.

    1. question which year did he emigrate to Australia.

He married Amy Florence May Best b 1905 Australia, married 1930 in Australia.

They both appear on the ship "Asturias" in 1947 coming back to England on their own.

They stay with E W father at Thame.

They both appear to go back to Australia on the "Stratheden"9 Jan 1948.

They also appear to have 2 children with them. 1 Girl born in 1945 and 1 Boy born in 1946
I can not find the births for the children on Freebmd or anywhere else.

    2. So could these be the 2 children in the story and how do I go about finding who they are.

If there are no births registered in England for the children under the name Carter without being in contact with them I doubt that you will find who they were because if they were adopted here their files will only be available to them.

Do you have the death certificate for Edward or Amy? Depending in which state they died the children may be named.

Ah I see you have their names and ages from the travel document so Megan advice is more relevant than my wanderings.

Thanks for that Steve. I have all the info on all the family members.
No that's not his death as he died in Australia. I now have 3 Carter family member in Australia.

It is the 2 children I am most interested in. I will ask a friend in Australia to see if she came find anything about them. But I have to be careful as there are still living relatives that may not know about them being adopted.

Sorry - don't understand " ... it's not coming up on my tree ....". I have no idea how trees look or behave on either FMP or Ancestry.

If you want the record on FMP pop "e w/carter" in First name/Last name and "ormuz" in Optional keywords. I realised the record related to your Edward William having previously checked his 1948 travel record which included Wellington St.

So you don't save your Family Tree to these sites, On Ancestry and FMP you make a family tree you then input your family names on to your tree it then give's you hints that they find related to your person that you save to your tree. On ancestry I can not see the Australian Records as I don't have a world wide sub so I ask my cousin in Aus to look and tell me whats on the records.
On FMP I input the full name got a large list but most where not my man.

    Thanks anyway for the info

I will look again and see if his brother traveled with him.
