He joined the ASC (Regt No. 109028) as Thomas CLAY on 1 July 1915, declared age 39y 360d, born Farndon, Notts.
Home address Leicester. Sister Gertrude MACALLISTER (Nottingham). Discharged 1919.

I cannot find a suitable birth for any of the names ... perhaps even Ernest THOMAS is an alias!
