The heading of a letter dated May 1924 from the Chief Constable of Sheffield, this man was committed for trial on charges of "obtaining goods by false pretences (long firm fraud)".

He joined the ASC (Regt No. 109028) as Thomas CLAY on 1 July 1915, declared age 39y 360d, born Farndon, Notts.
Home address Leicester. Sister Gertrude MACALLISTER (Nottingham). Discharged 1919.

I cannot find a suitable birth for any of the names ... perhaps even Ernest THOMAS is an alias!
