    Default Help please with german place name on cert

    Hi, i have just received ,this certificate, for my paternal 2x great, great grandparents, and i am having difficulty, reading the birth place in germany ,of my 2x great,great grandmother , i have tried to search online but at present no luck any help appreciated. Thank you in advance

    Thank you, Mr Goodey for your reply i will try and get a better scan, the certificate , is not very good at all,

    Try scanning just the left-hand side of the certificate as well. There's plenty of writing on it for comparing how some of the letters are written.

    It looks like Deuter Nautch Theustead but I can't find that anywhere.

    Crucially, we forgot to ask David where the marriage took place. I'm presuming Australia, but I could be wrong.
    It took place in 1879, and I expect we've all seen weird and wonderful spellings from people in that era.
    I think it will come down to trying to interpret what's written (and I would agree with your transcription), then say it out loud in various accents and see if you can find somewhere in Germany that sounds like it.
