Well, that's the first time that I've searched something on the British Newspaper Archive and had zero hits!

Searching his name gave nothing, searching the railway company and date turned up reports in many papers on 18th Sept. His name has miraculously become Deneux...
Apparently an axle broke up on one of the carriages. The driver followed procedure when he realised something was wrong, and threw the engine into reverse. One carriage (the fate of the carriages carefully includes info as to what class they were) was left hanging off a bridge others just derailed and M. Deumieux's was rolled. He was the only immediate death, everyone in his carriage was badly hurt.
There's a few names and fates, if anyone's looking for a railway casualty. Lots of reports with varying amounts of detail Deumieux is variously listed as foreigner or frenchman, for a start. The London Evening Standard (Tues 15 Sept) lists what he had in his baggage (including game as he'd been shooting) and that the badly injured (died later, or doing well depending on which paper you read) guard was a remarkably fine looking man...
The reports gradually shift to another fatal accident by the same company in the next week...
Unlike the modern press who would be howling for the scalps of the railway directors, the 18040 papers just reported and moved on! Interesting exercise, comparing the reports.
There's a report on 21 Nov about him being disinterred and sent home.
