    are you certain the number on the Silver Badge is NOT a BADGE number? Is it not the Service Number of the Soldier to whom it was issued?

    And I am quite familar with the numbering system. My Grandfather had two Military numbers, one from Royal Dublin Fusilliers and a different number from the Labour Corps

    No, it is not, if you look at the actual Silver War Badge Roll, it clearly lists the badge number, with the name and service number for the person. See here - https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/soldi...ver-war-badge/
