    Default CLOWES, James F G, b1883 - WW1

Another CLOWES mis-filed as CLAWES in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

James Frederick George CLOWES (known as Frederick) joined the Seaforth Highlanders on 9 September 1914 (Regt No 3930). Later transferred to the Labour Corps (569332) & was discharged in 1919.

Declared age in 1914: 30y 295days, born Longton, Staffs.
Living in Sawley (near Nottingham) in 1914, he gave his 1919 discharge address as Honfleur (and later) Le Havre (France). By 1925 he was living in Long Eaton, Derbyshire.

    No reference to family members.

James Frederick George Clowes 27 twist hand lace maker Longton North Staffordshire
    Martha Clowes 25
    Howitt Victor Clowes 6
    Richard Gordon Clowes 4
    Geore John Clowes 1
    Genie Elizabeth Clowes 3 months

Wife and children all born Derby. Martha's name is missing from the marriage record on FreeBMD 1904 June 1/4
There is a choice of 8 Marthas marrying in derby ion June 1/4 1904 but the most likely is Martha Brown vol 7b page 1208 as James F's reg is 7b 1203
Looked at Richard Gordon Brown's birth reg on the GRO index and his mother's maiden name is Brown.
