Looking for John Dwyer 1851 cork Ireland-Merthyr Tydfil wife bridget dwyer 1831-1890 born cork 1851-1903 Merthyr Tydfil not sure if maiden name was barrett or Donovan think Donovan, just can not trace their parents.

The only John Dwyer I can see in the censuses in Merthyr Tydfil born Cork is one married to an Ellen but his mother is Bridget married to Timothy. The surname has been transcribed wrongly.

Ellen, wife's surname is down as Donnavan on the birth registration of Alice Elizabeth Sept 1/4 1885 in Merthyr Tydfil vol 11a page 560.

So they moved from Ireland sometime between the birth of John c1851 and the birth of Timothy c1854.

I wonder if tthe enumerator got it wrong about Catherine's birth place as being Merthyr Tydfil and she was born Ireland or was she Welsh and moved to Ireland.
Bridget, the daughter of John and Ellen in the 1891 census above, birth registration on the GRO index gives her mother's maiden name as Donovan. So John married an Ellen Donovan and his mother was Bridget and father Timothy. Timothy's mother was Catherine.

Have you found any of the children's births in the GRO index? I've had no luck, though did find a possible death for Hannah age 2 months in 1861census ,.
