I'm starting from scratch, the birth entry for Florence, NB the spelling of the surname. This has the correct MMN
VOLKEL, FLORENCE MINNIE DAUBERT

I consider this a likely scenario.
Marriage George Smith/Florence Volkel (Greenwich 1905)
A son is born: SMITH, JAMES HENRY CECIL , mother's maiden name VOCKEL
GRO Reference: 1905 J Quarter in GREENWICH Volume 01D Page 988
Then things become complicated as it appears for some reason there was a change of surname to Griffin.
1911 census, 49 Christ Church St, Chelsea RG14; Piece: 405
George Griffin 24, public house potman, born London
Florence Griffin 24, born Westminster, married 6yrs
James Griffin 5, born Greenwich
Birth of dau: Births Mar 1913, Griffin Violet F, mother's maiden name Voelkel St.Olave 1d 348
* note the birth was registered Mar qrt (between Jan - Mar) as parents were given 6 weeks to register a birth, it is possible Violet was born Dec 1912, her birth certificate will give DOB.
Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935
Vessel: Ascania, date of arrival 23 Jun 1913 (Quebec), port of departure Southampton.
Griffin George age 28, Florence (wife) age 26, James age 8, Violet age 6 months.
1921 Census, Toronto West
Florence Griffens 30, born England
Violet Griffens 8, born England
Lily Griffens 6, born OntarioAlma
