Hi,My Baker family comes from Herstmonceux in Sussex. John Baker married Elizabeth Deadly in 1799.Elizabeth Deadly was born in Ireland 1776.Can anyone help me is Deadly a Irish surname because I can't seem to find anything about her or the name.Many thanks

Have you found Elizabeth on census records, if so can you please post census references. If she isn't on census returns how do you know she was born in Ireland.

There's a few Deadly baptisms in Sussex 1777 - 1796. Have you considered her father may have been a military man, hence a birth in Ireland? Or, could Deadly be misheard, Dudley is an Irish surname.

there is a record on familysearch which says John Baker Colbran (Birthname : Baker) married Elizabeth Deadly on
30 Apr 1799. The "Family Tree" attached to this record states that Elizabeth Deadly was born in SCOTLAND in 1774
and died on 12th June 1843 Herstmonceux, Sussex, England
