Hi,
I wonder if anyone can suggest how I can find out which military units were stationed within easy reach of Spilsby, Lincolnshire during the spring of 1918?
I am trying to trace a boyfriend of an ancestor, but without much information. We do know he was socialising in Spilsby around Easter 1918 but not much else.
Any ideas, please?

If it was me, I’d ask the Lincoln Archives. They have always been very helpful in the past.

I could only think of reading local newspapers, but after reading Lesley's suggestion I remembered the Museum of Lincolnshire Life which is based jn the Old Barracks on Burton Road in Lincoln. That has a lot of stuff about the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment and the Lincolnshire Yeomanry .
Spilsby Community Library has a local/family history section, so it might be worth asking them if they have anything that could help.
And it's sometimes surprising what results you get if you write to the local newspaper asking them to publish a letter.

Good thought, Pam.
I’ll add to this that every query these organizations get provides evidence that they are still needed - sadly, libraries and archives are under threat these days. Why not ask all of them? You’ll be helping all of them as well as yourself.
