A few pages mis-filed in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363) for a man referred to as Jaffa GOODMAN, but his wife signs E JAFFA:
Home address: Regent Street, Leeds.
Wife: ETTY JAFFA. At least 2 children.
Attested 21 July 1915 - Kings Royal Rifles, Regt No: 14667.
On trial in early 1916 (for attacking a fellow serviceman?).

I'm totally confused now.
Ada and Leah seem to have been registered with mother's maiden name Gabronsky, but Jacob and Barnet with MMN Milker
And, I'm not even sure the 1911 is the right folks.Alma

See British Jewry Leeds Data Base for Jacob Jaffer 1901 who is at 31 Bousfield Street Leeds RG13 4221 2 33. I noted the reference to Goodman Jaffah at 53 Busfield Street Leeds in 1911 census # 5. Sherry Landa has put details of the father of Jacob Jaffer who is named as Harris YAFFY.
There is also a Harris YAFFE in the 1911 census living in Liverpool and he names his parents as Harris Yaffe and Esther Beatrice Yaffe. His naturalisation record HO 334 40-1905.
1911 Census ( Crown Copyright,TNA) RG14 22200
34 St George Street Liverpool Lancs
Harris Yaffe H M 38 Tailoring maker employer b Russia (Resident)
Rachel wife 39 b Russia (Resident) married 19 years 6 children 1 dead
Barnett son 17 s tailoring maker b Lancs Liverpool
Florrie dau 11 b Lancs Liverpool
Esther dau 9 b Lancs Liverpool
Rebecca dau 1 b Lancs Liverpool
Whether or not these families relate to Goodman requires confirming. It is usual Ashkenazi naming practice for a relative to be named after a dead relative (as in the case of Harris first name) and the first and last names can often bear no relationship to the original names particularly those Eastern European Jews as my own relatives names have confirmed over many years of research. Jaffer can be Yaffe/Jaffe and other derivations - see JewishGen Data bases for the various name derivations
The Jewish Chronicle Feb 4 1916 has the Death Memorial Notice for Goodman:
Rifleman Goodman Jaffer K R R
I will look further in Jewish Records.

An example of what Phillip means!
When I posted details of the JAFFA family in #2, it was in the belief that it would be connected to Goodman. In the process, I searched for birth records for the seven siblings. The results highlight just how much names can vary. Surnames in brackets are as they appear in the GRO index.

Here are some Yaffe newspaper articles from the Jewish Chronicle which focus on Yaffe in Liverpool. I am looking at derivations of names but it is also important to note that many Jews changed their last names either by deed poll or for numbers of other reasons much later in time. For example, some of my distant relatives who had lived in the UK for many years decided to drop any foreign or Jewish sounding names and took on totally different last names. This makes it difficult to trace them without a great deal of research.
Bernstein- On the 5th May 44 Vine St Liverpool Chaiva Faige widow of the late Morris Bernstein..son Jacob and daughter in law Rachel Bernstein 147 Peel Road Bootle, daughter Esther YAFFE and son in law Isaac YAFFE 44 Vine Street Liverpool , and grandchildren. Friday May 16 1930 Jewish Chronicle.
You will note the use of Hebrew first names for the widow of Morris Bernstein. This is again a common practice and Synagogue Scribes records shows both the Anglicised and Hebrew names of thousands of individuals. For example, one of my 3x great grandfathers was Henry born Tsevi son of Baruch. John was originally Jacob as another example.
See also Jewish Chronicle same date Jan 17 1930 Abraham YAFFE Liverpool property developer involved in a court case and the theft of property from Harris YAFFE tailor South Castle Street Liverpool.
As per #9 the last names can be numerous derivations so I am looking at many variations.
Phillip
