Default William Pearson wife and parents

I have hit a brick wall in looking at the family tree of Arthur Pearson born in Leeds in 1904. Arthur’s parents were Arthur and Clara Pearson nee Lumb. Arthur was born 1879 Bramley, Leeds and Clara 1874 Gomersall. Married 1902.

Arthur’s parents were William and Sarah Pearson nee Askham. William was born 1849\1850 Leeds and Sarah 1848 Pearson (nee Askham). Married 1869.

William’s parents were Willian and Mary Pearson. William born 1819 Leeds.

    I have 2 problems

    1. The most likely candidate I can find for Mary is Mary Walker born 1823 in Leeds, parents John and Maria Walker both born Halifax. However the marriage of William Pearson and Mary Walker is 24 December 1833 Calverley which makes Mary 10? Their first child seems to be Ann 1840 which would make Mary 17. Is this likely other candidates do not fit the picture either.

    2. I have drawn a blank with William’s parents. There are a number of William Pearsons born around 1819 but I can find no link.

One other issue to resolve is where William 1849 went for a period around 1881. At this time son Walter was living with grandparents William and Mary in Yeadon, children Mary and Arthur are with Sarah living in the household of Bryan Askham. The census suggests Bryan is her father but the marriage record shows her father to be Benjamin. William is nowhere to be seen at this time.

    Any help appreciated. Brian

This appears to be the Askham family in 1861. The father is Benjamin. The handwriting in the 1881 census is woeful.

I haven't followed them back yet to see if this is Benjamin's first or econd marriage.

Yes thank you this looks like the one. The 1881 census I mention shows Sarah with her own 2 children in the home of Bryan Askham with 2 others Arthur age 22 and Benjamin 25 who tie in with the ages of Ben and Arthur in the 1861 census.

Question would be who is Bryan, or is he Benjamin with bad handwriting.

Christina brilliant this confirms what I have so at least the Askham line is sound. Mary Askham was nee Lister.

I would say he is her father Benjamin. Our posts crossed

I am also using the spelling Askam or wildcards As*am

If I have the correct William and Mary in the 1851 census there is a son David age 7 with them. Looking o the GRO index there is a birth reg for a David Pearson reg dist Leeds March 1/4 vol 23 page 406. Mother's maiden name is Walker.
Birth reg for a William Pearson June 1/4 1849 Leeds vol 23 page 482 Mother's maiden name Walker.
Also George Henry June 1/4 1845 mmn Walker

Did you base their first child on the 1841 census? If so, I don't think it is the same couple as the ones posted on this thread for 1851 and 1861, as that William is a cloth dresser which was a very different occupation. The marriage Christina posted at #8 looks good to me.

1841 (I don't believe these are your folks)
