I'm aware you have to apply to mod for ww2 records but before I do so just wondered if anyone can identify the Mans uniform and possible regiment InThe attached pic. His name was George henry bishop b 1915 and h survived the war. I believe this pic was taken 1940. Many thanks in advance

Could this be a Home Guard uniform? I have seen 2 buttons set on the forage cap like that on HG photos. Not sure about the white lanyard on the left shoulder, though some HG attached to RA ack-ack batteries had one around the right shoulder,
Was his YoB 1915? if so, he is shown in the '39 register in Uxbridge with a spouse, Minnie YoB 1914, one other person and a still hidden entry.
That is the only 1915 George H on the FmP '39 registerLast edited by Pam Downes; 17-03-2018 at 10:33 PM. Reason: Details in breach of FMP's T&Cs removed. Only details available in the free index for non-subscribers may be given.

Thank you for the suggestion I've only just been given this pic so have no clue. And Yes that's definitely him on the 1939 register.

Hi
Haven't found him on Ancestry military records. but HG don't generally appear there.
HG records are kept in Glasgow.
Info on getting HG records is here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/request-...ervice-records
i managed to find my own father's record this way, but I did KNOW he was in the HG. It might be worth waiting a while in case anyone else comes up with a military record or unit ID from the photo.
Probably nothing to do with him, but have a look at this https://www.londonsscreenarchives.or...ils.php?id=352 and watch out for 4 min 55 and 4 min 57 shots, close ups of 2? chaps with similar glasses.
