believe he left Gibraltar around 1928/9 leaving his wife and two daughters.
There is an entry dated 27 July 1949 and disembarking in Gibraltor for
    Obduila & children
    Margot
    Edward
    Francis
    Maribel
    Victor

There is an accommodation address c/o Stelp & Leighton Repatriado. Most of the passengers have this entry against their name.

    Googling
There are notices in the London Gazette
Stelp & Leighton suggests that this company is no longer in existence entering liquidation, the final notice being 1987
The company is described as Shipping Agents / Apply Local Passenger Agents or STELP LEIGHTON LTD.

Its RO was ST PAULS HOUSE, WARWICK LANE LONDON EC4P 4BN

The Duke Of Wellington 1st Battalion has a large number of photographs on line. It looks as if it is a W Yorkshire base unit, whioch could tie in with Sheffield and surrounds !

Thank you so much, Margot on the passenger list is my mother, her mother Obdulia, her brothers and sister. They were repatriating home to Gibraltar after WWII

I have been looking online regarding the Duke of Wellington and was aware of the information you provided, thank you.

    kind regards

Have you seen the birth certificates for your mother and her siblings? The reason for asking was I wondered whether any of them included your grandfather's service number. It was just a sudden thought that came into my mind this morning because if you had his service number it might help persuade the Mod to release his records to you.

I will see if I can find my mother's birth certificate, her only sibling is Alice.

I didn't think to check so thanks for suggesting this.

    Kind regards
    Maribel
