Can anyone explain this?
A member of another site Has found the death reg of a relative on the GRO but on ordering the cert the GRO have said there is no certificate and refunded money. This was ordered the original way.
Why would they have no cert if the registration is on the site?
Would the PDF download if tried that way?

Did they order the certificate using the exact details in the GRO Index? For instance, if the surname in the Index is spelt Blogs with one g, is that how they spelt it when ordering? An incorrect detail is the usual reason for non-issue of a certificate.
Did they order using the automatic link from the GRO's Historical births and deaths site where you can opt for either the certified certificate or a PDF one? If so, then it's a real mystery and one only the GRO itself can answer.

They said they'd found the registration on the GRO,ordered and opted for the certified copy. They have now tried to order the PDF and have a few days wait.
I find it really odd that the registration is there,( I checked it too!) but they weren't able to issue a cert.
