    Default Grandfather Service Records - REME

    Hi,

    I am struggling to find details of my Grandfather's Service in REME during WWII. Unfortunately I do not have his death certificate however I do have:

    1. his home address while serving;
    2. details of the medals he was awarded;
    3. name and rank.

    Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

    Any assistance would be gratefully received.

    Thanks,

    Luke

    Hello Luke,

    Welcome to British-Genealogy.

    Service records for personnel who served after 1921 are still held by the Ministry of Defence. Details on how to apply for those records can be found here.

    Unfortunately you will need to provide a copy of his death certificate with your request. Assuming he died in either England or Wales, either apply for a copy via the GRO or the local registrar's office. https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/civ...ice/RegOffice2
    If you need further assistance in finding his death registration, or if he died elsewhere, then please ask.
