having had a good look around some notes on the Scothern family
1) On the 1881 census there is a relative living with Thom & Jemima, this appears to be Jemima's mother Hannah Riley and her son Tom Riley b 1872.
2) there is a child Ferdinand WRIGHT b 1872 presumably to Jemima however it is not clear from these registered birth's which is the stepson
WRIGHT, FERDINAND -
GRO Reference: 1872 M Quarter in BASFORD Volume 07B Page 96
WRIGHT, FERDINAND HARDY
GRO Reference: 1872 J Quarter in BASFORD Volume 07B Page 136
The only reference I can find to Jemima Wright is on the 1871 census
RG10; Piece 3479; Folio 6; Page: 5;
Seth Riley 43 Ilkeston Derbys
Hannah Riley 43
Fanny Riley 13
Mary Riley 11
James Riley 7
Sarah A Riley 5
Jemimah Wright 21 ( dau in law)
Looking at Jemima's parents I find a marriage
Marriages Jun 1857
Riley Seth Basford 7b 210
Wright Hannah Basford 7b 210
It follows that Jemima was born a WRIGHT and is Seth Riley's step dau or as is sometime recorded dau in law!
Jemima's birth registration = q1 1850 Wright Jemimah Leivers Basford 15 469
