My great-grandparents were John Joseph and Annie (Moore) Alderson. I think John's father was Mathew Alderson. John and Annie along with their children came to America in 1904. In England they lived in Durham County and John and his sons were coal miners. I don't know who Annie's parents were and Moore is a hard name to find since there are so many of them. John was born 9 Dec. 1863 and Annie was born 9 Jan, 1871. Their oldest son was my grandfather Edward Moore "ted" Alderson, born 25 Feb, 1890 in Eldon or Shildon England. Are any of their descendants still living in Durham County? Ed Alderson

Yes, Annie remarried after John died in 1942, to Richard Roberts a coal miner from wales. First she rented him a room then they became friends. They were married when she died but the family chose to put Annie Alderson instead of Roberts on her gravestone.

Yes, Annie Alderson married Richard Roberts a while after John died. Richard was from Wales and a coal miner. She rented him a room and operated a grocery store next door to her house before they married.

Herbert Matthew Alderson married Goldie's sister Nellie Ethel Norris, Charles William Alderson married May Reed, Henrietta Alderson married Nathan Priest, Nellie Eleanor Alderson married William Dorrough, Ada Lavinia Alderson Married William Mason Rice.
