Does any one have any information regarding the above who went missing in Burma in October 1944? Anyone who had served with Gordon or knew him at al all during the period 1942-44 would love to hear from.

Welcome to the british Genealogy Forum, Celery.
If you came to us from FWR, the post HERE explains our relationship.
Your best bet would be to buy a copy of his service record. The post HERE explains the procedure.

The Commonwealth War Graves site, cwgc.org, gives the following info:
60769 Flt Lt Gordon Hayter Proctor, died 3 Oct 1944, aged 30. 45 Sqdn, RAF Reserve. Son of Mr & Mrs FB Proctor of Fetcham, Surrey.
He is listed on the Singapore memorial, reference column 431. Take a look at the memorial details yourself, it includes information on where the 24000 men listed on the memorial might have died.

According to the RAF's website HERE, they were flying bombers - Vengeance & Mosquitos. Apparently the latter had structural problems.

There are a few other sites giving more history.

To find living people who might have known him, you could try Forces Reunited HERE. There are still a few from my Dad's RAF entry still there (or their children are), so you might get lucky. This Squadron is apparently covered by the Burma Star Association HERE, so it might be worth contacting them.
