    Thanks, have found VM, KW and ML but still struggling with V kl. ?? Not sure of it is all one decoration or two?

    The best site appears to be:-

    site shows medals and ribbons, from which I gleaned the following:-

    VM, V kl = Virtuti Militari V Class (5363 awarded)
    There are 5 classes of the award V being the lowest, class appears to be rank dependent or possibly requires being awarded lower class previously. Not clear in description.

    4 x KW = Cross of Valor (Polish: Krzyż Walecznych) awarded four times.

    ML = Medal Lotniczy (Air Force Medal for War 1939-45)

    on further reading, it is definitely RANK dependent. If you click on Medal name on the wiki page you get a history of the medal, buried therein are descriptions of eligibilty for each class, these varied over time, depending on who was in charge at the time. It makes interesting reading.
