Out of the 58 results for a George H Morris in the medal Roll Index Cards there is only one in the Army Service Corps
    Name: George H Morris
[Wm Morris] The Wm is actually written in blue in the column headed 'Roll' so whether it refers to his name or is an abbreviation for something else.
Regiment or Corps: Army Service Corps, Labour Corps
    Regimental Number: SS/7941, 297498
He entered France 25 April 1915. Discharged 11 March 1918.
At some point he must have lost his Silver war badge because it was handed in by the police 12 Feb 1919.

Thanks for this. I've tried cropping the photo but the badge becomes so fuzzy you can't see anything but the general shape of it could be for the Army Service Corps. I'm very encouraged by the details you found.

Well the Wm on the Medal Roll Index Card does mean a middle name of William. Here is his entry in the
UK, WWI Service Medal and Award Rolls so I wonder why his Medal Roll Index card shows him as George H - maybe someone's illegible writing on a document in the system.
    George William Morris
    Military Year - 1914-1920
    Rank - Private
Medal Awarded: British War Medal and Victory Medal
    Regiment or Corps: Labour Corps
    Regimental Number: 297498
